Chapter 6

Chapter 6 - Managing information and taking notes

How to save and organize print information, how to save and organize digital information.
Why take notes - why its helpful, chose a method, be consistent.
Quote directly, modifying a direct quotation using an ellipsis, modifying a direct quote using brackets, modifying quotations using Sic, or paraphrase a source.
Summarize sources to capture overall argument and information. Record your reactions and impressions. Compare sources - look for similarities, differences, common citations.
Classify sources by tagging and labeling, grouping, listing, visualizing.
Plan your document.
How to write a bibliography to organize information. Create a working bibliography and then an annotated bibliography to frame your argument.

This chapter teaches me how to be more organized with all of my research, and gives a number of methods for keeping track of my sources based on what they will be used for. Keeping information and sources organized is instrumental in being prepared to write the actual paper. I can use this chapter if I am having trouble staying organized, or need help keeping track of all my difference sources.
